I don't like no Week sauce on my wings!

Sho shorry guys, starting the weekly events on a Tuesday... epic failure on my part. However, if you didn't already know that the awesomest thing going on for Monday was Tap Night Tacoma; you may have other issues...

Here's what's coming up for 12/14 thru 12/19...

Tuesday 12/14: 7 Seas Brewing 'Santa's Smokin' Holiday Winter Warmer' Release Party @ CROWNBAR in Tacoma. There will be other 7 Seas beers available, holiday giveaways (SWAG!!!) and jolly Santa himself. 6p-9p (although Mike Runion from 7 Seas said he'd be there all night!)

Wednesday 12/15: Give a Pint, Get a Pint hosted by Cascade Regional Blood Services @ The Hub in Tacoma. 12:30-2:30p Give some blood and get a coupon for a free brew (I'll even throw in some good karma for ya...)

Thursday 12/16: Dogfish Head Beer Night @ the Parkway Tavern in Tacoma. 6-9p and cross your fingers that they'll have the Bitches Brew on tap... I'll be there (hopefully with an entourage of ale minions) giving away some of my personally made DFHead swag, in the small profound way in which I do things. :)
AND Help fill the glass boot ALL WEEK at The Red Hot for United Way of Pierce County's Season of Caring. They're donating $1 from every pint.

Saturday 12/18: Christmas Beer & Cookie tasting @ 99 Bottles in Federal Way. 10a-12p. $2.50 for some beer and cookies... it's either going to be fabulous or disgusting. Either way, I'm glad they are doing it!

Sunday 12/19: Not sure what everyone ELSE is doing this day but here are my ale related plans:

12-3p... I'll be doing a Sensory Beer tasting at an up and coming (hopefully soon to be open!) Tacoma brewery; Wingman Brewers Brewery. This entails: Spiking beer with various flavors in order to learn how to identify off flavors in beer. (I'm takin' my knowledge n' shit to a whole new level!) After this sensory tasting we will have a more informal tasting using BJCP scoring for fun and practice.

4p and on... Another fabulous Literature & Libations meet up. This time we'll be chillin' at the Powerhouse Brewery in Puyallup. A quick note on what L&L even is: "We are the lazy man's book club. We don't read the same book at a time; we probably won't discuss the books we are reading; however, there is a good chance we will chat and drink and read and be very happy doing all of it at the same time."
Feel free to come out if you are interested in joining the fun, everyone is welcome if they don't suck! Ie. No Jerks. Stolen from The Red Hot.

If you are not invited to or attending any of these Sunday events, you could always hit up a 253 local for some football and beer. The Harmon Tap Room has football, pinball, good food, pool and WTF Sundays! where your entire bill (including beer!) is half off.

Have a good one!

Clear your schedules and get your drinking arm ready to go!

Take a peek at some of the fun events coming up for November, what the what?! I believe I'm going to have to clone myself another pissed liBEERian or get my minions to attend events on my behalf. There is just no way I can do it all!
I don't appreciate being teased with  pics of DFHead 90m IPA laciness that is on tap all the way in San Antonio. But even I can't argue that it's gorgeous.
Ta Da... Novembeer!

11/17 thru 11/21 - Walking Man 10th Anniversary celebratory goodness @ Walking Man Brewing, Stevenson
11/18 thru 11/23 - Jetting off to New York for 5 fun (& ale) filled days with MGD. I am super stoked to hit up some east coast craft brew. Ithaca Flower Power and Iona (hailed as Brooklyn's Irish pub for those who aren't a fan of Irish pubs), you are 1st on my list.
11/24 - Honey, the Parkway Ruined Thanksgiving @ Parkway Tavern, Tacoma 5p (Hahahaha, I love the name! I don't care how jet lagged I am from flying in from NY the night before. I also don't care how energy deprived the mandatory All Staff conference leaves me the next morning, I am going to this event and dragging everyone I can with me.)

Hope you can make it out for a few of these events and support local craft beer, I know I'm going to do my darnedest.

My Questitude

pissed = drunk (not mad)
liBEERian = me

I have noticed a theme developing in my life over the last 2+ mths or so. The search for delicious ales, delivered to me either in full pint form or 4oz tasting glass, has officially BEGUN. I think Brewer's Fest 2010 officially started my slight obsession. Some people critique food, some people breakdown vino & it's many elements. For others... there is beer.

I started drinking beer about 6yrs ago. Started LIKING beer around 3-4yrs ago. All of my male friends and brother have a pretty diverse palate when it comes to ale and I was starting to feel a little left out, possibly uncool. So I made myself try new things (new @ that time =ed anything that wasn't Corona w/ lime wedge) and failed miserably. Beer was purdy gross. I resigned myself to loving the oh so palatable Blue Moon & the occasional Mac & Jacks Serengeti Wheat. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy both but my mind and mouth crave more. Sigh... what's new?

Beer exploration took an abrupt halt when I stopped most of my drinking (vino and mixed drinks consumed rarely, beer never) to pursue fitness and weight loss for a stint of 6mths. Still keeping fit and active but have slowly added tasty ales back into my diet. Stoked to hear this today, true or not: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3079028/Beer-can-help-you-get-slim.html.

Now that I have a few beer related festivals (along with the drunken bruises and fantastically fuzzy memories to prove it) under my belt, I have been fervently pursuing info from breweries around the nation, as well as local pubs for specific brews. The beer that got me started on such madness is Schooner Exact Brewing Co.'s Seamstress Union, a raspberry wheat ale. I had it for the 1st time at Brewer's Fest 2010, handed over my little wooden chip not knowing the magnitude of what was about to hit my mouth. I then proceeded to spend many more chips (my own and my date's) at their corner tent location. 4oz a pop is not enough to get my fill!

I spent the following weeks harassing the brewers @ Schooner Exact (who were kind enough to load me with info on the beer and where they had most recently delivered kegs in Tacoma) along with local pubs to find out where and when it was going on tap. Finally found it @ 1022 South in downtown Tacoma. Walking from work to my car @ 9p, I phoned Chris at 1022 to inquire on SU and I think he was as excited as I was over the ale "come on down!! we have it right here for ya". Met my partner in crime, Cole, for a pint. It was a mutual consensus that it was a) amazing and b) just as good if not better than we remembered. I felt fairly relieved that I hadn't built it's amazingness up in my head. Even though I will submit, I am fairly enamored with Seamstress Union. NOTE TO SCHOONER EXACT... take it off seasonal, make it year round!! Still planning on marching my charms down to the SE tasting room in Seattle to talk them into this.

Some of us require Seamstress Union year round. I was told specifically "I don't want to be around you when SU isn't available any longer". Hahahaha, enuff said. ;)

Ale related goals and the Essential point of this BuhLog:
-not planning on writing such a novel every time, this is just a small peak for you into my plight. Straight to business from here on out.
-review beers I've tried
-review pubs & breweries where I have sought out these libations (current fave: Parkway Tavern)
-find cool suppliers of eclectic bottled brew (current best a tie between 99 Bottles and Whole Foods)
-report on the many random occurrences that tend to happen while consuming the good brew (free age related beer & leaving SIB w/ 2x as many glasses as we started with)
-learn to love IPA (it is a type of brew that seems to have the most variety available and the coolest names, I think I can make it happen. I am single minded to a fault when there is something I want.)

See ya on the other side...
