Science Cafe @ Swiss Pub (Tues, November 8th, 6:30p)

Okayokayokay. This time I REALLY mean it. I'm going to try and make it to the Swiss on the 8th. I missed the October Science Cafe about Crows for some random reason. I got so excited about the topic of the upcoming one that there is some extra motivation to suck it up and attend.

It also provides the perfect excuse to get out of any last minute house cleaning the night before MGD comes home from his waytoodamnlong trip.

The Quiet Sky: Searching For Extraterrestrial Intelligence
Tuesday, November 8, 2011 - 6:30 p.m. - Swiss Pub

After 50 years, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) hasn't detected any artificial radio signals. Should we have expected to hear something by now? Can we learn from the silence? Join the University of Puget Sound's Bernard Bates, Ph.D., at the November Tacoma Science Café to explore the ideas behind SETI, how non-scientists can actively participate in the search, and what conclusions might be drawn from our last half-century under a "quiet sky."
